the head of the Ellis River Valley, a short trail is within easy access from

Places, 20 Petrograd Street, Berlin. Mt. Jasper Located within Berlin city limits, at the end
of Willard St. An archeological site of a prehistoric mine
used by Indians. Many artifacts displayed in the Berlin Public
Library. Mt. Washington The highest mountain in the northeastern U.S.
at 6,288', is a 10 minute drive from Gorham. The highest wind velocity ever recorded on the
Earth was on top of this mountain, which is accessible by car, cog railway and
numerous hiking trails. On the summit, it can snow any months of the
year. In the summer, various races are held to the top where you'll find a
museum about the mountain's natural and man-made history. Nansen Ski Jump This steel framed 170' ski jump was
constructed in 1936 and used for the Olympic Tryouts. Although no longer in use
it is a site to behold. Picnicking, fishing and a boat launch are available at
a wayside area across from the ski jump. Second highest steel tower jump in the U.S.
(181'), erected in 1936. Route 16 just north of Berlin City limits. Northern Forest Heritage Park 961 Main St., Berlin, NH 603-752-7202 The Park hosts forest, river and art exhibits,
lectures, seminars, concerts, ethnic festivals, Summer Heritage Mill Tours,
lumberjack competitions, and special blacksmith demonstrations and events. Pinkham Notch Scenic notch between the Presidential and
Carter-Moriah Mountain Ranges, passing by the base of Mt. Washington and
Wildcat Mountain Route 16 south from Gorham. Dramatic peaks rising above timberline, the
center of which is Mt. Washington. Named for Presidents Monroe, Franklin,
Eisenhower, Clay, Jefferson, Adams, and Madison. Railroad Museum, many varied
memorabilia from the time when railroads were the main form of transportation
in the North Country. Across from the Gorham Common and Town Hall on
Railroad Street in Gorham. St. Anne's Church Roman Catholic, well known architectural

beautiful town, located at the Northern end of the Mount Washington Valley.
Close to anything, yet miles away from everything. Shelburne Birches Renowned painted and photographed white
birches along Route 2 in Shelburne, a Memorial Forest to U.S. Service Veterans. Stone Fish A natural formation of stone shaped as a fish,
on the south side of Route 2 heading east in Shelburne, also the site of a
natural spring. Thirteen Mile Woods A beautiful drive through undeveloped and
uninhabited woods along the Androscoggin River where moose are frequently
sighted. A favorite spot for fishing, canoeing and
kayaking. North of Berlin, Route 16 to Errol, NH.
