Featuring more than100 art pieces from over 22 collectors, the exhibition is a one-of-a-tribute to the life's work of one of the North Country's most beloved and respected artists on the fifth anniversary of his passing. 155 Emery Street, Berlin. 752-1028 14 - Jeremy Dean Band Gorham Town Common 6:30-8:30 pm 14 - IMAI Northward Bound Chamber Music Ensemble featuring eleven internationally acclaimed and classically trained musicians will present a beautiful andexciting summer concert at the St. Kieran Arts Center on Tuesday, July 14 at7 p.m. Tickets are $12 for adults and $6 for children, available at the door. 752-1028 www.stkieranarts.org 15, 16 & 17 - Berlin Sidewalk Sale 18 & 19 - Thunder in the Mountains Once again, Downtown Main Street in Berlin New Hampshire will host motorcycles of all kinds! Special events, vendors, Poker Run, fireworks - all in the heart of the Androscoggin Valley. This event is proving to be such a great time the committee decided to make it a two day event this year! The rally is headquartered at 220 Main Street in Berlin. The rally starts with a poker run at 9:00 am. Events include a bike show, motorcycle rodeo, vendors, music, fantastic BBQ at Northern Forest Heritage Park beginning at 4:00 pm, fireworks, music, entertainment and more. To participate in this NH Grand Adventure be sure to be in Berlin and at the Northern Forest Heritage Park, on Saturday & Sunday, July 18th 19th! 18 - Road Rally 21 - Jose Duddy (Community BBQ) Gorham Town Common 6:30-8:30 pm 27 - Androscoggin Valley Hospital will host an
American Red Cross Blood Drive on 28 - Straightaway Gorham Town Common 6:30-8:30 pm August 4 - Country Felix Gorham Town Common 6:30-8:30 pm 8 - River Day & Wingzilla River Day is a day of celebrating the Androscoggin River is full of things to do and see. We will have a Canoe & Kayak Race, Flotilla "parade of boats" and anything that floats is invited to ply their maritime ability and parade down the river. FREE NFHP boat tour rides for children 11 and under from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. Log rolling demonstrations will be provided. Children will be allowed to practicelog rolling for a contest in which prizes will be awarded. There will be seminars and workshops with representatives from the Northern Forest Canoe Trail, Appalachian Mountain Club, Androscoggin River Watershed Council, NH Fish & Game and North Woods Rafting. Barbequed Chicken Wings, cotton candy, fries, ice cream, and beverages will be available all day. There will be plenty for the young ones to do with children's activities including games, petting farm, crafts, and face painting. North Woods Rafting will have kayak rentals available at Rotary Park (for fun or for entry in the "Race" or "Flotilla"). Regular narrated 90 minute boat tours will leave the docks at 4:00 pm. Wingzilla is a new event added in 2008. This is an all-day fun event you and your family won't want to miss. This great event is being presented by the Northern Forest Heritage Park and the Berlin Fire Department. Wingzilla is a giant Chicken Wing Cook-Off Competition and a two man Horse Shoe Tournament. The gates open at 10:00 am and best of all, there's no admission. Come and sample the lip smacking, finger licking BBQ wings prepared by several competitors! The Chicken Wing competition will be among professionals, amateurs, and many fire departments from all over the state. Come and watch the Horse Shoe Tournament, or maybe you have a team and want to play. Chicken Wing judging is from 5:00 to 5:30 and there are hundreds of dollars in cash and prizes at stake for the Chicken Wing Cook-off winner and the winning Horseshoe Team! To participate in this NH Grand Adventure be sure to be at the Northern Forest Heritage Park, on Saturday August 8th! 11 - NOTEable Decades Gorham Town Common 6:30-8:30 pm 15 - The 6th Annual North Country One Pitch Softball Tournament will be held at Colonel Town Fields in Lancaster, on Saturday, August 15. There is room for six more teams (all skill levels are welcome) in this charity event. Teams can consist of up to 20 players each. All proceeds from the $100 team registration fee, sale of grilled food at the event and sale of prize and 50/50 raffle tickets will benefit Make-A-Wish Foundation of New Hampshire. For a registration sheet or to serve as a team/individual sponsor, please leave a message at 466-1035. 18 - Tammy Jackson Band (Community BBQ) Gorham Town Common 6:30-8:30 pm Great Northern Moose Intertribal POW-WOW 8/22/2009, 8/23/2009 (10:00am - 6:00pm) Event Fee: $5 donation to benefit the drums / $150 for vendors. Primitive camping $24 per night NO Hookups Description: Native American Inter-tribal POW WOW All are welcomed. Native American drumming, singing, story telling, Native American Flute playing and more. Grand Entry @ Noon on Sat & Sun. Once again this year - the only Native American PowWow held in Coos County Host Drum White Mountain Thunder / Sacred Sprit will Co-Host. Absolutely NO Alcohol or drugs permitted on site during this weekend-Strictly enforced. Day dancers will be admitted free, vendors tables $150. Events such as cross-cut, buck saw, stock, modified & super modified chainsaw, axe chop, axe throwing, etc… are sure to thrill one and all! Children will have their own competition with the Junior Log Rolling Championship. Two new events were added last year! The Fry Pan Throwing Contest for the ladies and the Log Tossing Event for the gentlemen. There will be a prize awarded for both events. The day begins with a hearty lumberjack breakfast in the Park's Lumberjack Cookhouse. Serving time begins at 8:00 a.m. and will continue until approximately 10:00 a.m. There will be displays, demonstrations, and children's games. As always our delicious Food Fair will offer delicious hamburgers, hot dogs, French fries, chili & corn bread, and meat pie throughout the day. There will be ice cream, cotton candy, fried dough and ginger bread! Boat Tours on the Androscoggin River will be available all day! October 10 - Riverfire Voted Best of NH 2007 Riverfire grows to be bigger and better every year! It all begins with a Duck Race on the Androscoggin at 3:00 pm. There will be Bingo, Hayrides, Kiddy Carnival, Pie Bake-off contest, Berlin has Talent Show, entertainment, food & beverage vendors and the Spectacular Riverfire Lighting at Dusk! To participate in this NH Grand Adventure be sure to be at the Northern Forest Heritage Park, on Saturday October 10th! November 14 - Chamber Auction & Penny Sale 27 - Christmas Parade of Lights December 5 - Teddy Bear Picnic Children are invited to join Santa, Mrs. Claus, and a live Teddy Bear! Each child will lunch on "Teddy Bear" jelly sandwiches, have juice or milk beverages, and cookies. They will also receive a keepsake Christmas beverage mug and a small stuffed animal of their own to take home as mementoes of their special day. Several Arts & Craft tables will be set with Christmas themed projects for children of all ages. When they have completed their projects, they can take them home to give as gifts or help decorate their home. All children will have the opportunity to participate in the coloring contest with four $50.00 savings bonds awarded as prizes. Children can also sign up for a free raffle of a shiny new wagon that will be given away that day.
